Events that may require dedicated support

With limited capacity from local UK charity Air Ambulances and a hard-pressed NHS ambulance service, our dedicated air ambulance event support can offer a means to reduce the burden on local ambulance services. Of particular relevance to this type of support are:

  • Film sets / filming locations that have complex or dangerous stunts
  • Filming locations with A list film stars
  • Motorsport events i.e. Formula 1, Touring cars, Rallying, Extreme E events
  • Horse racing, three days eventing, point-to-point
  • Major music festivals with poor road access to and from the event site

Onsite, standby operations or Ad-hoc?

Our air ambulance event services offer three options to suit the event or insurance requirements for the event, these being:

Onsite
As is suggested, the aircraft typically our Airbus H145 helicopter and its crew (including medical, if required) will be stationed on site during the duration of the filming or motorsport event. This provides organisers with immediate Medevac capability from the site to a major specialist or trauma hospital in the UK.
The air ambulance event team will deal with all the logistics of the operation and will work together with your risk team to identify and mitigate medical risks.
In this model, typically you will pay for:

  • The positioning of the air ambulance to and from the site
  • The availability of the air ambulance and crew during the duration of the filming or sports event
  • Any use of the air ambulance while on location as an hourly rate (or proportion of) plus any associated fees

Standby – available in Scotland only
Our standby air ambulance service for events is suitable for situations where there is no pre-condition by the event organiser or insurer to have the immediate ability to Medevac a patient from the film location or sporting event. In this model, our Airbus H145 helicopter will be positioned at our facility in Glasgow (Inverness and Aberdeen may also be accommodated with a positioning cost), and will be available for set periods of time on a ‘go now’ basis.
In this model, typically you will pay for:

  • The availability of the H145 air ambulance and crew during the duration of the stand-by period
  • Any use of the air ambulance while on location as an hourly rate (or proportion of) plus any associated fees

Ad-hoc
Our Ad-hoc air ambulance service for events provides organisers and insurers additional air ambulance uplift should it be required on an as needs basis. No commitment is given to the availability of the service due to its ad-hoc nature. We would suggest that this service is only used when there is no insurance requirement to have dedicated air ambulance support.
In this model, typically you will pay for:

  • Ad hoc supplementary air ambulance support should we have availability
  • The positioning of the air ambulance to and from the site
  • Any use of the air ambulance while on location as an hourly rate (or proportion of) plus any associated fees
