Most of our clients are not interested in aviation per se, instead they require aviation to deliver a capability.
The Mission Support team having understood the CONOPS (concept of operations) will design an ecosystem of facilities, pilots, operators, medical teams, aircraft, helicopters, VLOS and BVLOS UAVs to deliver that capability, wherever and whenever it is needed.
With mission availability exceeding the high nineties and hitting 100% in certain areas, the team are dedicated to delivering a capability that provides our clients with decisive advantage.
Typical mission solution activities include:
Understanding what you wish to achieve is crucial to delivering an appropriate Mission Solution. Sounds simple? It should be, but often isn’t. There are cases where the actual CONOPS task is forgotten through a desire to over specify an outcome.
For example, an agency needs to undertake a survey task of trees and disease patterns over a large land mass. This needs to happen within specific times within weather windows over 8 seasons. Data is not required to be transmitted live.
This tasking could be completed by a BVLOS drone, a fixed wing, a helicopter or even a satellite asset. The important aspect being the data requirements not the method of obtaining it.
By understanding the CONOPS requirement the correct asset can be aligned to the task event to the extent where you have multiple assets ‘teamed’ to deliver one operational picture.
At the Mission Solution level this provides the ability to design a programme that can be effective and somewhat future proofed. There is little point in acquiring a fleet of helicopters for law enforcement deployment when a much higher degree of force projection can be attained via strategically placed helicopters and a larger fleet of BVLOS UAVs. They achieve the same CONOPS requirements but have very different cost profiles, through-the-life requirements, facility footprints, training requirements, capex requirements, etc. but would, even with today’s limitations, achieve largely the same thing – carrying out search and intelligence gathering missions.
